Denver Marathon: Run for the First Time

The Inaugural Denver Marathon attracted thousands of runners and spectators this Sunday - despite chilly weather and an early starting gun.


The half-marathon brought about road closures and ensuing traffic jams, causing motorists to do some huffing and puffing of their own.


The event, is an addition to the nationwide Rock n Roll Marathon Series, which includes 17 festivities in 14 states.


Living up to its name, music from U2, Rolling Stones and Journey was pumped out, to keep the runners pumped up. Minneapolis-based band, Semisonic, entertained marathon-goers with a rock concert.


First runner across the line was Mike Ash, who finished in 1:05:22. Adriana Pirtea was the first woman, at 1:16:03
