Ed Asner has been tapped for a multi-episode arc on the USA Network series Royal Pains, TV Guide reported Friday.
The former Screen Actors Guild president, 81, will feature in two episodes this coming season as Ted Roth, the grandfather of Hank (Mark Feuerstein) and Evan (Paulo Costanzo). Hank and Evan's father Eddie, played by Henry Winkler, was introduced last season.
Asner is best known for his Emmy Award-winning role as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He recently returned to television in CMT's original sitcom Working Class.
The third season of Royal Pains begins Wednesday, June 29 at 9/8c.
