Elder Abuse Caught on Tape at Pennsylvania Facility

Three Pennsylvania women are being charged with elder abuse of a patient with dementia after being caught on tape with a hidden camera planted by the family.

Samirah Traynham, 22, was first arrested on Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal conspiracy, harassment and neglect of a care-dependent person, the Philly Inquirer reports. Tyrina Griffin, 21, and Ayesha Muhammad, 19, were both arrested on Thursday.

The three women worked at the well-known senior living center Quadrangle in Haverford, Pa.

The victim, 78-year-old Lois McCallister, first complained to her family that she was being punched and slapped by staff at Quadrangle. The family approached administrators who told them such claims were unfounded, and it was McCallister's dementia that led her to make such statements.

The family took it upon themselves to install a hidden camera in the room after they found bruising on McCallister. The video was then taken to police.

McCallister is now living at home.
