Gisele Bundchen: Supermodel, Supermommy, Defends Breastfeeding

Gisele Bundchen recently told Harper's Bazaar's UK magazine edition that a "worldwide law" should be in place that demands women to breastfeed their children for a period of six months. Gisele Bundchen, who is married to New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady, continues to breastfeed their 8-month old son Benjamin Brady. Gisele Bundchen's manager and twin sister Patricia reported that Gisele Bundchen has come under fire at modeling shoots and continues to respond about weaning her child off the breast after three weeks because of the paparazzi.

ThirdAge.com recently reported more details on this story, as follow:

In a recent story run by US Weekly, the following was reported... "I think breastfeeding really helped me keep my figure," Bunchen, 30, tells Harper's Bazaar UK (excerpted in The Daily Mail). The supermodel welcomed Benjamin, her son with husband Tom Brady, in December of last year, and revealed an impressive bikini body months after giving birth.

She adds to the magazine: "Some people here (in the US) think they don't have to breastfeed, and I think 'Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?' I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months."

Bundchen also opens up about giving birth to her son -- and how meditation prepared her for the big day. "It prepared me mentally and physically. It's called 'labor' not 'holiday' for a reason, and I knew that," she says, noting that she marvels at other expectant moms who give birth "unprepared." "You want to go into the most intense physical experience of your life unprepared? That doesn't make any sense to me," she quips. "Then I was ready and I thought OK, let's get to work'. I wasn't expecting someone else to get the baby out of me."About Gisele Bundchen Gisele Caroline Bndchen (born July 20, 1980) is a Brazilian model and occasional film actress.
