GPS Recall: Garmin GPS Units May Overheat, Catch on Fire

A GPS recall is currently in effect another type of product recall to add to the list this month, along with eggs and cars. CNN reported the GPS navigation designer and manufacturer Garmin Ltd. is recalling 1.25 million Nuvi GPS units, 796,000 of which were sold in the U.S.

According to Garmin, the affected Nuvi unites use batteries, built by an unspecified third-party manufacturer, that could potentially cause the device to overheat. Even worse, it could catch on fire.

Garmin reports that less than 10 of its units have been affected so far, TIME reported. None of of the 10 produced any property damage or injury, said Huffington Post.

Only GPS units with the following model numbers may be affected: 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT, in which xx is a two-digit number.
