High Speed Internet Service Demand Drops

High speed internet was once a highly sought after commodity. Today though, with the integration of WiFi hotspots and free wireless coverages in hotels, apartments and office parks, the demand has slowed. Two new studies say the adoption of high-speed Internet service in homes has slowed to a crawl this year after a decade of rapid growth. The Pew Internet & American Life Project says 66 percent of U.S. adults now use broadband at home, up from 63 percent last year. The difference is not statistically significant. Its phone survey also found that those who don't have broadband are the least likely to believe the government should get involved in spreading it.Leichtman Research Group found that major phone and cable companies added a net 336,000 broadband subscribers in the April to June period, fewer than in any quarter in the past nine years.
