Actor Hugh Grant will return as Daniel Cleaver in the third romantic comedy about British spinster Bridget Jones, and production on the film has been delayed, not scrapped, the film's producers said.

American actress Renee Zellweger plays Bridget in the franchise, while British heartthrobs Hugh Grant and Colin Firth play her suitors.

"Reports that Hugh Grant has exited 'Bridget Jones's Baby' are untrue," Working Title chairman Tim Bevan told the BBC Friday. "We are still working on the script, hence the delay to the start of production, but the film is going ahead as planned."

"The Full Monty" director Peter Cattaneo is to helm the second sequel to the 2001 blockbuster "Bridget Jones's Diary," a screen adaptation of Helen Fielding's newspaper column and novel of the same name. "Diary" was followed by the less-successful 2004 film "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason."

The third installment is to follow the trio as Bridget becomes pregnant in her 40s.
