India and the U.S. have agreed to team up on a space-based energy initiative, reports The Times of India.
This comes as U.S. President Barack Obama is on an official trip to India, aimed at opening up the Indian market for U.S. business.
The Times of India says the project looks to turn both countries into net energy exporters. Named the Kalam-National Space Society initiative, it proposes to harvest solar power in space, for use on earth.
The former president of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, once a strong critic of the U.S., is leading the project.
