John Edwards Deposed in Sex Tape Lawsuit

John Edwards has testified under oath in the lawsuit over a video that purportedly depicts him in a sexual encounter.

The two-time presidential candidate was deposed last week as part of a dispute between former Edwards aide Andrew Young and Edwards mistress Rielle Hunter, according to his attorney Robert Elliot.

Hunter sued Young to reclaim objects including a video she says depicts Edwards in a sexual encounter with a woman assumed to be Hunter. Young has said he helped cover up the affair and contends the tape was found amid trash Hunter left behind in a home he was renting.

Edwards admitted to an affair with Hunter and acknowledged he fathered a child with her. Hunter worked in 2006 as a videographer for Edwards political action committee. Reports say Young had initially claimed paternity so Edwards could continue his campaign.

Investigators are reportedly examining whether Edwards knew about money used to cover up his affair and if funds given to Hunter and Young could be considered campaign donations.
