Kelly Ripas Rumpled To Runway show in Soho on Wednesday, was designed to support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). The event was a runway show where real women bloggers from all over the country modeled their own clothes.
Instead of usual attendance of fashion editors and celebrities, the chairs were packed with bloggers, obviously tweeting and sharing pictures, so they could spread OCRFs message to their own digital following later on.
OCRFs mission is to fund the research needed to find a method of early detection, and ultimately, a cure for ovarian cancer. And starting Sept. 8, in support of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Electrolux is donating $200 to the OCRF for each Perfect Steam washer and dryer purchased in Turquoise Sky throughout the month of September, theyre amazing, futuristic-looking, sparkling blue machines, the color inspired by the teal ribbon of ovarian cancer awareness.
In an interview with Extra TV, Ripa acknowledges the close friend she lost to Ovarian cancer and expressed her feelings with a grave uncharacteristic sincerity.
The event, sponsored by Electrolux, took place in a Soho loft on Mercer Street, complete with exposed-brick walls, mirrored coffee tables, white leather couches and flowing white curtains. The blogger/models all wore their own clothes, lacy white shirts, tight white pants, flowing white dresses, each accessorized by a splash of teal blue. Brand ambassador Kelly Ripa narrated the whole event decked out in a cutesy pink dress and huge high heels.
