Country superstar Kenny Chesney said Wednesday he's bumped up the date of his Foxborough, Mass. show due to predictions about Hurricane Irene's landfall.
Chesney moved his concert at the Gillette Stadium from Sunday to Friday, UPI.com reported.
Storms killed seven people at the Indiana State Fair Aug. 13, prior to a performance by Chesney's friends and performing mates, Sugarland.
"I want the last weekend of the Goin' Coastal Tour to be a great experience for everybody. But I also want it to be the safest experience for everyone," Chesney wrote on his Web site. "I've always said Foxboro is a highlight of our tour, because the fans are ready for a great night of music and fun no matter what night it is!"
Some fans in the Boston area, however, are not happy about the country star moving up his concert from Sunday to Friday in order to avoid the potential bad weather from the hurricane.
His Facebook page was filled with posts from fans who are unable to make the Friday show.
One fan wrote: "Completely devastated that you had to move the concert to Friday night versus Sunday at Gillette Stadium. I understand the weather but been waiting all year for this concert as I'm deploying to Afghanistan for a year in only a couple of months. Would have been a great way to leave the states as your my fave country singer of all time."
