Lady Gaga is reportedly planning to adopt three orphans from India, according to multiple reports Sunday.

Tabloids report that the Pop icon, who recently visited India to perform on the closing day of the inaugural Grand Prix, told friends she “wants to follow in the footsteps of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie by helping disadvantaged children from all over the world,” according to Digital Spy.

The Daily Star reported Sunday that a source close to Gaga told reporters, “(Lady Gaga) has always wanted to adopt, ever since she was a little girl.”

The source also said, "She tells friends she feels she was put on this planet for a reason and since achieving fame she sees it as a sign that she has to give back the good fortune she's received.”

Gaga reportedly plans to adopt more children from around the world, including the U.S., down the road.

"She wants at least one American child, too. She's not being one of those celebrities who get sucked into third world adoptions only to forget about her own country,” the source told the Daily Star.

GaGa, who visited two orphanages while she was in India, is planning to wait a few years - when she will have more time on her hands – to adopt, the Daily Star reports.
