Part-time model and fashion blogger Lauren Scruggs lost her eye and left arm in December when she accidentally walked in front of a plane propeller in Dallas. Now, however, Scruggs is thriving after being treated in the hospital and fitted with a prosthetic eye.

“It is beautiful,” Lauren’s mother, Cheryl Scruggs, wrote on her Caring Bridge blog. “Thank you God for providing.”

According to E! Online, Cheryl and Scruggs’s twin sister Britt accompanied her to the ocularist where she received the new eye. The eye was painted and shaped specifically for Scruggs, and the process took nearly eight hours to complete.

The next step in Scruggs’s recovery is to decide whether or not she will be fitted with a prosthetic arm.

“We again met with the arm people this week,” Cheryl wrote Thursday. “Again, another step.”

Scruggs has been relearning how to walk, talk and dress herself, all while going through a large amount of physical pain, ABC News said. While her mother believes Scruggs is doing better, there is still a long way to go emotionally.

“Lo’s physical pain has subsided a great deal. It is now the emotional pain that is tough one,” Cheryl wrote.

Scruggs was injured on December 3 after she walked in front of a plane propeller at an airport in McKinney, Texas. She had been riding with a friend in order to see the Dallas Christmas lights from the sky. The pilot reportedly tried to warn her about the danger of walking in front of the propeller, but he was not heard over the roar of the engine.
