McDonald's To Show Calorie Count On UK Menus

McDonald's restaurants across the United Kingdom will be providing calorie counts on their menus as part of a government-led program to fight obesity, the Courier Mail reports.

Over 1,000 McDonald's restaurants will begin displaying the calorie counts on wall-mounted menu boards starting in the first week of September, acccording to the Courier Mail.

The chain is among several food companies partnering with Britain's Department of Health to encourage customers to adopt a healthier diet, including KFC, Starbucks and Pizza Hut, the Courier Mail reports.

McDonald's, which is already displaying calorie menu counts in New York, has also promised to remove artificial trans fats from its products, although it did not sign up to a salt reduction pledge, according to the newspaper.
