Melissa Gilbert, Bruce Boxleitner Divorcing After 16 Years of Marriage

Melissa Gilbert and husband of 16 years Bruce will be divorcing, confirmed a representative for Gilbert. They are currently separated.

Gilbert, 46, is perhaps best known for playing Laura Ingalls Wilder on the television drama "Little House on the Prairie" as a child. She also served two terms as the president of the Screen Actors Guild.

Her husband Boxleitner, 60, and also an actor, is known for starring in the television series "How the West Was Won," "Bring Em Back Alive," "Scarecrow and Mrs. King," and "Babylon 5."

The couple had one son together, Michael, 15. Gilbert has another son, Dakota, 21, from her previous marriage to Bo Brinkman. Boxleitner has two sons, aged 30 and 25, from his previous marriage to Kathryn Oglivy.

"We have loved each other for a very long time and we share four incredible sons together," Gilbert said in a statement. "On behalf of our family we ask to be allowed our privacy during this very difficult time."
