Melissa Leo, who won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress Sunday at the Golden Globes, says shes a method actor.
Leo won critical acclaim for her role as a chain-smoking mother in the movie The Fighter. Leo, 50, co-starred in the movie with Christian Bale, who walked away with Best Supporting Actor.
Its method acting, she said. Its not perverse. Its not weird. Its not sick or mental, but if the camera is going to roll on me, who knows when, in five minutes or in five hours, Id like to be as close as I can to the character when the camera rolls.
Leo says she never broke character while on the set of the movie.
Im not there to make friends. Im not there to look good. Maybe Ill come here and make friends and look good tonight, but when Im working, and its just serious.
