Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are calling it quits on their marriage. Just one week after Showtime announced that the couple - who are siblings in their role on the hit series "Dexter" - are signed on for another season, news today is that the couple is headed for divorce.
"Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce," reps for both stars told EW.com.
The LA Times Says: The actors, who met on the Showtime set, have been married for two years. As a couple, they weathered Hall's cancer diagnosis and treatment. At the end of November, Carpenter spoke with the Los Angeles Times about her and Hall's odd navigation of their brother-sister relationship on screen, despite being lovers in real life.
"We were just friends, and it was very easy to be friends," she said. "We were both surprised when this other thing happened. We did a lot of talking about it -- can we kiss, what will that mean, will we damage the credibility of our characters? We were very practical. But in the end, the heart wanted what the heart wanted."
Michael Carlyle Hall (born February 1, 1971), better known as Michael C. Hall, is an American actor whose television roles include David Fisher on the HBO drama series Six Feet Under and Dexter Morgan on the Showtime series Dexter. In 2009, Hall won a Golden Globe award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in Dexter.
