Michael Vick was named the starter of the Philadelphia Eagles this week by head coach Andy Reid. Vick got the controversial call by his head coach and then another surprising call from a familiar voice. Arthur Blank, owner of his former team the Altanta Falcons, called Vick to congratulate him. Blank told ESPN he called Vick after hearing the news that Eagles coach Andy Reid had promoted him on Tuesday."I just wanted to congratulate Michael on the promotion," said Blank. "He was very humble, very grateful. I've always told him everyone deserves a chance for redemption and this is about his life, not just the football field."The Falcons owner remained in contact by writing occasionally to Vick during his former quarterback's 18-month prison stay for his involvement in a criminal dogfighting ring.Blank said he was blindsided by Vick's involvement in dogfighting. He later wished Vick well upon the completion of his sentence but said he could not play for the Falcons again.
