Mike Myers has signed on for a fourth installment of the "Austin Powers" film franchise, HitFix.com reported Friday.

"For a lot of people, it's his quintessential role, his signature character," Paul Degarabedian, box office analyst for Hollywood.com, told The New York Daily News. "It's been a while, but Mike Myers can always count on an audience for an Austin Powers movie. It could make a BILLION dollars," he joked.

Myers, 48, hasn't appeared in a major onscreen role since the 2008 flop "The Love Guru," though he provided the voice of the title character in the successful animated "Shrek" series.

But the raunchy comedies about the '60s British superspy, which began in 1997 with "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" and went on to spawn two sequels, have proved lucrative for Myers in the past, having made $676 million worldwide.

The anouncement is another piece of good news for the former "Saturday Night Live" and "Wayne's World" star, who's expecting his first child with wife Kelly Tisdale later this year.
