The 18-year-old defeated Audra Mari of North Dakota to win the title and will succeed the reigning Miss Teen USA Kamie Crawford of Maryland. The other finalists were Alexis Swanstrom, (California, second runner-up), Taylor Clark (Kansas, third runner-up) and Sydnee Stottlemyre (Missouri, fourth runner-up).
Miss Teen USA 2005 Allie LeForce and Chet Buchanan, a Las Vegas radio and TV personality, served as hosts for the pageant. The whole event was streamed live online -- it actually didn't take place in the United States, but at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. The Miss Teen USA pageant was last televised in 2007 and has been streamed live online since.
Doty is the second Texan to be named Miss Teen USA. Christie Lee Woods, who was later an "Amazing Race contestant, won the contest in 1996.
As this year's winner, Doty will be given the opportunity to live in New York City as a student of the New York Film Academy. She will work with various charitable alliances, including Best Buddies, Sparrow Clubs, Girl Talk, D.A.R.E. and Project Sunshine. But she will first head to Mercedes Benz Swim Fashion Week in Miami on July 18.
