Mitt Romney has lost the support of Bruce Keough, the New Hampshire Republican who oversaw his campaign in 2008.
New Hampshire’s primary is crucial for Romney in the 2012 presidential race. Keough, however, told Mother Jones in an interview that he’s no longer sure what Romney stands for, stating that his questionable political identity and inability to hold consistent positions as a politician were the reasons for his decision.
"He struggled with that in the last campaign," said Keough in the interview, "and to some extent I think he's still struggling with it."
"The truth is, the people of New Hampshire may never know who the real Mitt Romney is, because it's not at all clear that he does,” said Ray Buckley in response to Romney’s announcement of his 2012 presidential exploratory committee. “Mitt Romney just wants to be President—plain and simple—and he'll take any position or say anything to get there."
