Oprah Winfrey recently re-invited to the show former protg, Iyanla Vanzant on Wednesdays episode after Vanzant endured an 11-year banishment stemming from a dispute over a contractual offer.
Years back, Vanzant was Winfreys up-and-coming star. Making numerous appearances on Winfreys show, Vanzant was given the spotlight to shine and was often seen offering wise counsel to a number of Winfreys audience members and viewers.
However, things soon began to sour between the two when members of Barbara Walters camp offered Vanzant the opportunity to do her own show. Vanzant had then apparently presented to Winfrey what seemed like an ultimatum, according to online sources.
The two had since remained distant since that time. Vanzants talk show had only lasted for one season.
On Wednesday's show, an emotional Vanzant presented the talk-show queen a heartfelt apology:
"I am aware of how my behavior and my choices could have appeared to you and been experienced by you as betrayal. Please forgive me. Please. That was not my intention ever, and at the bottom line, Oprah, I think it boils to people thought I knew things that I didnt know.
Oprah accepted her apology saying, I accept your apology. No apology necessary. You were already forgiven.
Despite these polite exchanges, tension still seemed to remain in the air and the two appeared uncomfortable for the remainder of the segment.
