Decency and Opening Doors |

It's apparently over, now ladies -- your point has been made -- and apparently I am allowed to open the door for you and receive an honest, heart-felt (or reasonable facsimile thereof) "Thank You" in return once more without trepidation.
Despite the best efforts of your sisters in liberation, chivalry has survived. For the more militant among you, that's probably not a good sign for the new millennium. But on that often-rough road of feminist outrage, one has to expect a few potholes.
I honestly enjoy opening doors for women, children and folks older than myself. Common courtesy aside, it makes me feel good. Every now and then these days I may run across one of those "I'm-capable-of-doing-it-myself" angst-ridden females who accompany their remarks with a sneer. But on the whole, those for whom I tend to hold doors seem thankful for the gesture. Next >
