Vatican Facebook Page for Pope John Paul II Launching

A Facebook redesign was rolled out on Thursday, after the social network announced the move at its f8 developer conference this week.

The Vatican will launch a Facebook page for deceased Pope John Paul II in an effort to promote his beatification. The rumors have been confirmed by the Vatican.

Monsignor Paul Tighe, one of the Vaticans top two in the social media department, said What we found is that Facebook doesnt just share information, it creates community.

It has been reported that the page will link to video highlights of John Pauls 27-year papal run.

The church will also expand its media focus to include a Vatican news portal, to begin on Easter. The Vaticans first message reads:

That interactivity and the potential it brings to the church's evangelization mission is behind the Vatican's new social media push, the culmination of which will be launched at Easter with a new Vatican information web portal whose contents are specifically designed to be tweeted, posted and blogged.
