Rafael Nadal, who missed the Davis Cup quarterfinals, will play for Spain next week in its best-of-five semifinal match against France.
The matches will be played on the clay courts at Plaza de Toros in Cordoba, Spain Sept. 16-18.
Nadal, who is now playing in the U.S. Open, was not in the lineup during Spain's 3-1 quarterfinal win over the American Team in Austin, Texas, in July, UPI.com reported.
Spain's other players against France will be David Ferrer, Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez.
The same team won the Davis Cup two years ago.
The Spanish team's captain is Albert Costa.
The French team will have Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gilles Simon (both also still in contention in the U.S. Open Tuesday), Gael Monfils and Richard Gasquet. The captain is Guy Forget.
The Spain-France winner will play Argentina or Serbia for the cup championship in December.
Serbia is the defending champion.
Fourth-round U.S. Open men's tennis action scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to rain.
The schedule included matches involving second-seeded Rafael Nadal, fourth-seeded Briton Andy Murray and American star Andy Roddick.
Nadal was set to face unseeded Gilles Muller of Luxembourg, Murray was supposed to meet American Donald Young and Roddick was scheduled to take on David Ferrer.
Play was set to resume 11 a.m. Wednesday, even though more rain was in the forecast.
