"Remember Remember the 5th of November" Quote Made Famous Thanks to Movies, Comics

"Remember Remember the 5th of November" quote, many say, was made famous thanks in large part to the movie and comic book "V for Vendetta." The quote serves as a remembrance of Guy Fawkes Day.

According to the Washington Post, Fawkes was the 17th century revolutionary who attempted to blow up England's Parliament buildling on November 5, 1605 in what is now commonly referred to as the Gunpowder Plot.

Fawkes, after getting caught, tortured and executed, became immortalized through parables, rhymes and other stories.

Alan Moore's "V for Vendetta," the graphic novel that inspired James McTeigue's 2005 film starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman, focuses on a vigilante named V. V, like Fawkes, works to overthrow a government that he believes is corrupt.

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
The gunpowder treason and plot
I know of no reason
Why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be fought

This poem reminds people of the events that transpired, and perhaps could be the most famous quote from the action film.
