Ron Paul To Appear On 'The Daily Show'

Ron Paul is scheduled to make an appearance on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” for the third time, but the first of this primary season.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, Paul said Wednesday morning that he appreciates what Stewart’s publicity has done for his campaign. Stewart’s support for Paul’s campaign began after the Ames Straw poll, when Stewart was basically the only one who didn’t ignore Paul’s second place finish, saying at the time, “How did libertarian Ron Paul become the 13th floor in a hotel?”

Later, Paul thanked Stewart for the media attention, insisting that it was “great that somebody like that comes to defend us,” ABC quoted.

However, just because Stewart admires Paul doesn’t mean he’s not poking fun at the Texas congressman. For example, after Paul said during a debate that a barbed-wire fence between the U.S. and Mexico was “un-American,” Stewart responded to the comment in true Daily Show style.

“I’m telling you, this is why we need this guy in the race!” said Stewart, as quoted by ABC. ”He is the only guy in any political party who realizes that at some point we might want to sneak into Mexico.”

Still, Stewart appreciates Paul’s consistency when it comes to where he stands on political issues.

ABC quoted Stewart as saying that Paul has been “consistent over the years… you may disagree with him, but at least you can respect that the guy has a belief system he’s engaged in and will defend.”

Paul will appear on the “Daily Show” on Monday, September 26.
