Sakineh Ashtianti: Brazilian President-Elect Calls Execution "Barbaric"
Sakineh Ashtiani, the Iranian woman being sentenced to execution for adultery, is inspiring world outcry over her case.
Brazilian President-elect Dilma Rousseff said an execution by stoning would be "barbaric," the Associated Press reported Wednesday.
In August, Brazilian officials offered to take in Ashtiani if her sentence were dismissed, but Iran would not comply.
The 43-year-old Ashtiani, a mother of two, was convicted of adultery in 2006. Her sentence could be carried out this week. It is unclear whether the execution will be by stoning.
