Sara Gilbert Gets Idea for "The Talk" After Attending Mom Support Group

Sara Gilbert, one of the hosts for the new CBS daytime talk show "The Talk," is bringing Christie Brinkley, Jennifer Lopez, and Jenny Sanford in its premiere week, the network said. Gilbert got the idea for the program after attending mom support groups.

"I thought, wow, people need this kind of support. I thought, what if there were a show where a bunch of women sat together and talked about the world through that perspective?" Gilbert says.

Yes, it sounds like "The View," but Gilbert says it will be different. After all, David Letterman and Jay Leno both sit at desks and talk -- but they're not the same.

Marissa Jaret Winokur, another host for the show, says she immediately liked the support-group concept because she found her first year as a mom a huge challenge.

Julie Chen, yet another host, stresses that the show is not just for moms.

"When you tune into it, you should feel like you're seeing six women from totally different walks of life who are gathering and talking about what everyone is talking about," Chen says.

"This show should feel like you're watching six women talk about what everyone is buzzing about, but we don't have an edit button.

"We're not here to judge each other. We're not here to give advice. We're here to talk about what everyone is talking about out there in the world."

Gilbert, who is also the show's executive producer, has spent much of her career as an actress. Her acting credits include "Roseanne" and "ER" while Remini's best known for "The King of Queens."
