Sara Gilbert Officially Comes Out as a Lesbian

Sara Gilbert, executive producer and co-host of The Talk, an upcoming talk show featuring mothers, came out as a lesbian during a press conference at the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles.

Gilbert and partner Allison Adler, a TV producer, have two children. Adler gave birth to son Levi, 5, and Gilbert gave birth to daughter Sawyer, about to turn 3.

On possibly discussing her role as a lesbian partner and mother on The Talk, Gilbert said at the press conference, I just think I am who I am, and when topics come up that are appropriate, Ill talk about them, and share when it seems right.

Gilbert, known for her role as Darlene Conner from the popular 90s sitcom Roseanne, previously avoided talking about her sexuality publicly, but it was an open secret in Hollywood, according to The Advocate, an LGBT community focused magazine. However, she chose to officially come out because of the nature of The Talk.

She said, Ive been acting my whole life, and Ive never really discussed my personal life. This is a talk show So obviously Im going to be discussing my life more.
