The shooting in Arizona that left Rep. Gabrielle Giffords critically injured will not deter Washington officials from carrying out duties, House Speaker John Boehner said Sunday.

The Republican speaker, who was sworn in last week, said in a statement Sunday morning that House flags in the Capitol would be flown at half staff in honor of the congresswomans aide Gabe Zimmerman. The 30-year-old was among those killed in the Tucson, Ariz. shooting Saturday.

Boehner said House business will be postponed this week to address any issues stemming from the rampage, but added the inhuman act will not deter representatives from performing their duries.
