Spice Can Enhance Your Sex Life, Study Says

The spice saffron or the herb ginseng can enhance your love and sex life, say Canadian researchers.

According to Massimo Marcone, a professor at the University of Guelph, and master's student John Melnyk, panax ginseng, saffron and yohimbine all improved sexual function.

The researchers had examined hundreds of studies on common edible aphrodisiacs to assess claims of sexual enhancement, and whether or not such claims were psychological or physiological.

"Currently, conditions such as erectile dysfunction are treated with synthetic drugs, including sildenafil, sold as Viagra, and tadalafil, sold as Cialis," said Melnyk in a statement.

"But these drugs can produce headache, muscle pain and blurred vision, and can have dangerous interactions with other medications. They also do not increase libido, so it doesn't help people experiencing low sex drive."

The review was published in the journal Food Research International.
