Tropical Storm Igor is the reason that the National Hurricane Center in Miami has issued a tropical storm watch for the Southern Cape Verde Islands. The news comes out of the National Hurricane Center as Tropical Storm Igor moves west across the Atlantic Ocean. Tropical Storm Igor was about 95 miles southeast of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands, moving west at 8 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, the Hurricane Center said Wednesday in its 11 a.m. EDT advisory.Igor's westward movement was expected to continue over the next 48 hours, with some increase in forward speed. The center of the storm should pass south of the Cape Verde Islands by Thursday, bringing 1 to 3 inches of rain to the area.
