Venus Williams Short Dress: Are People Making Too Big of a Deal?

Venus Williams short dress stirred up another kettle of controversy after the tennis star showed up at the first round of the 2011 Australian Open into be more correcta long shirt and nothing else.

To be fair, William did wear black shorts under her striped blue micro-dress, which she opted for at the last moment over nude colored ones.

As the seven-time Grand Slam champion faced questions about her attire from the media after her match, Williams brushed off criticism: I mean, I had black shorts under.

"I just decided to wear the black ones," Williams said to the media. "But, you know, it's just about focusing on the dress and not anything else.

"But normally like it's all about the dress because it has a mesh and a satin kind of material. Of course, it's all sports gear, and it's all about that zipper, too. A lot of the focus of the dress is the zipper."

In any case, Williams distracting attire might be another card up her sleeve. Williams, who designed the dress herself, ended up winning the match in a quick 6-3, 6-3 victory over Sara Errani.
