The Voice of America website was hacked into and defaced by the so-called Iranian Cyber Army on Monday.
The website released a statement via its Facebook page:
On Monday, February 21, VOANews.com's primary domain, along with numerous related domains registered with Network Solutions, were hacked by an unknown party. This enabled the hacker to redirect VOA URLs to a site claiming to be run by a group called the 'Iranian Cyber Army.'
The hackers left a message for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, saying Ms. Clinton, Do you want to hear the voice of oppressed nations will from heart of USA? Islamic world doesnt believe USA trickery. We call on you to stop interfering in Islamic countries.
Voice of America is the official external radio and broadcasting service of the US federal government.
They believe the attack is the result of an ABC interview with Clinton, who said of the State Dept.s Twitter accounts in Arabic and Farsi, We want to be joining young people who, like young Americans, seek their right to express their views.
The Iranian cyber army also managed to briefly hack into Twitter in 2009.
