Is the Country on the Right Track?

I don't know if you've noticed, but people in both parties are already vying to be elected President in 2008. Personally, I don't much care for any election season because I always feel that my TV starts drowning in negative ads during a campaign, and that kind of gets me down. But this past week or so, a couple of people asked me to do some research on stuff that's normally outside my area, mundane astrology or world events astrology. So I did the (minor) research and immediately jumped to the conclusion that whoever is elected in 2008 is going to have his or her hands full. I'll lay out a few thoughts and then you can tell me whether you think I'm crazy or whether the country is on the right track or whether there's going to be some kind of reckoning. More…

Astrology and Winning the Lottery

Someone posted a comment on one of my blog entries that contained an implicit query as to why we don't hear about astrologers and psychics winning the lottery. I've actually run across this question before, so I decided to take my stab at answering it. It's pretty easy to figure out why this astrologer hasn't won the lottery--I don't buy tickets. I have zero interest in the lottery. Often, when there's a big jackpot, my boyfriend will say "have you bought your ticket yet?" And the answer is always no. But if I was interested in the lottery, would astrology help me win it? More…

Relationships: The Boredom Factor

Most of us who have been in long-term relationships know that boredom can creep in after awhile. The sex isn't as spicy; the fun isn't as fun or seems to have disappeared altogether, and romance seems MIA. For many boomers, understanding how to handle boredom in a relationship has been a difficult issue. We have grown up in a society that sometimes seems determined to entertain us to death, and we are beset by messages on all sides that tell us to buy or frolic our way out of boredom the moment it sets in. As it happens, right now is an opportune time for many of us to confront the issue of boredom in our relationships, particularly those of us born with Uranus in Leo (although much of what I'm going to say applies to others). Challenges and Changes in Romance and Relationships

A lot of the people I know seem to be going through changes and/or challenges in their relationships.  This has inspired me to try to post a not-all-inclusive list of signs that are experiencing interesting and/or hair-raising astrological events that could correlate with romantic upheavals, improvements, opportunities or a general sense of wondering what the heck is going on.  Look for your sign in bold in the post below and see if it offers any help whatsoever in figuring out what is going on. Dilemmas: Saturn v. Neptune

When this entry posts, Saturn and Neptune will be in ferocious opposition to each other in the signs of Leo and Aquarius.  This kind of aspect can coincide with the feeling of facing a dilemma, major or minor. Below, I'll give a brief rundown of the kinds of dilemmas each sign might be facing so you can look yours up and go "Aha! I knew something was up!" But first, I'll give a brief overview of the opposition itself and what it can correlate with.  More…

Addicted to Love: An Afflicted Neptune

"Might as well face it, you're addicted to love." Baby boomers may be old enough to recognize this as part of the chorus of a popular Robert Palmer song from years ago.  This song would be in continuous rotation on Neptune's playlist because it pretty much constitutes something of a theme song for Neptune. Neptune symbolizes addiction, and we all have it in our charts as an acknowledgement that as human beings we're all capable of becoming addicted to something.  I'll talk about love addiction primarily because it's one of Neptune's strong suits.  You can get perspectives on why you may or may not suffer from love addiction from psychologists and self-help gurus who have insights to share--I'll give you an astrological one. Neptune, Love Triangles and Losing One's Mind

Lisa Nowack, the astronaut who recently became notorious for some exceedingly bizarre antics that apparently resulted from an aeronautic love triangle, isn't the first person in history to have seemingly gone off the deep end in the name of love.  When I mentioned how strange the story seemed to me, my boyfriend ventured the opinion that any of us could act equally strangely under the right circumstances. He may be right, although I personally know no one who has donned a wig and attempted to kidnap a love rival.  There is a planet, though, that symbolizes completely losing one's mind, and all of us are subject to it from time to time.  That planet is Neptune. Valentine's Day Musings

Given that Valentine's Day is exactly a week away, I thought I'd post a few random musings on the broad relationship energies affecting the various signs.  These are musings by the way, not deep insights, so feel free to just read the description for your sign and then take things with a grain of salt.  You can also check out the description for your rising sign, if you know it, as in some cases it will be more likely to apply. Put Off Doing Your Taxes

I suppose it's usually good advice to get started on doing your taxes early, although personally I never do.  This year, I've got a few good excuses not to do my taxes early.  For one thing, the deadline for yearly federal income taxes has been pushed back 2 days to April 17.  Woo hoo! It has to do with an obscure local holiday in Washington, D.C., but I don't really care what the reason is as long as I get a couple extra days to procrastinate.  Secondly, the IRS, bless its bureaucratic heart, isn't actually going to be able to process some early returns this year (see link), so some eager filers will just have to wait.  My third good excuse comes from astrology.  More…

Handling Inner Conflict

Have you ever gotten in a fierce argument with yourself?  Have you ever agonized over a decision, thinking that first you should do one thing and then that you should do the opposite?  Have you ever found yourself full of hesitation and indecision over an important (or maybe even trivial) matter? Most of us have.  Inner conflict is part of the human condition.  Reason struggles with emotion, temptation with conscience, and self-interest with altruism.  Learning some astrology won't help you get rid of the human condition, but sometimes it can make it a little easier to bear by giving you ways to cope with inner conflict.  More…
