It’s Time to Impeach Bush/Cheney

Author of Male Menopause and The Irritable Male Syndrome.  Please visit me at www.MenAlive.com Back in December 2006, I asked my readers whether it was time to Impeach President Bush. More than 220 responses came in. Some felt Bush and Cheney should be removed from office before they did any more damage. Others felt that the President should be given a chance to complete his work in office. I said I had mixed feelings about whether they should go now or complete their term. It seems clear to me now that keeping Cheney and Bush in office will allow more people to needlessly die in Iraq while the rights of American citizens are taken from us. More…

Sex in the Sixties vs. Sex in the 60s

Come visit me at www.MenAlive.com and claim your free e-newsletter and e-booklet. Born in 1943, I moved into my sexually active years as a teen in late 50s and early 60s.  What boys learned was that girls weren't much interested in sex.  Since boys were very interested, it was our job to break down her resistance and get her to go along with our desires.  Sex was mostly about "scoring."   If you were very lucky to find a girl you could coax, you did everything you could to get to "first base."  If successful, you tried to steal second.  After that you were in "no man's land."  You weren't quite sure what you were supposed to do next.  But you knew it was incumbent on you to try and make it all the way.  More…

The Pelosi Principle: Why Parenthood is the Real Path to Power

Come visit me at www.MenAlive.com or www.TheIrritableMale.com If I’m home, I often watch Charlie Rose at noon-time while I’m having my lunch. Today he interviewed Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Pelosi is articulate, knowledgeable, and passionate. She is also one of the most powerful people in the world. As Speaker of the House, Pelosi ranks second in the line of presidential succession, following Vice President Dick Cheney.  She is thus the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. Government; no woman has ever been as close in line to the U.S. presidency.  And to what does she attribute her rise to the pinnacle of political power? The Ecology of Sex: Men, Women, and Survival in the 21st Century

Please visit me at my website www.MenAlive.com and sign up to receive our FREE e-newsletter on men, women, survival, and sex. It’s clear, to anyone who has the courage to see, that if humans are to survive the 21st century we have to change our relationship to the natural world. Global Warming, Peak Oil, Expanding Populations, and Economic Upheaval, remind us that we are out of balance with nature. A new book by author Michael Gilbert, The Disposable Male: Sex, Love, and Money—Your World Through Darwin’s Eyes, reminds us that our disconnection from the natural world reflects itself in dislocation between males and females. If we are going to survive we need to reconnect with the roots of what it truly means to be a man and a woman. More…

When to Leave (A relationship or a job) and When to Stick It Out

Come visit me at www.MenAlive.com and www.TheIrritableMale.com and claim your free e-booklet.      Freud reportedly responded to the question of what a healthy human should be able to do well by saying "leiben und arbeiten" - to love and to work. But in today’s world finding and staying involved in a healthy love or work relationship isn’t always easy. Many of us stay too long and many of us leave too soon.      The singer Kenny Rogers told us that we need to "know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, know when to walk away, know when to run." But he didn’t tell us how to go about doing that. I got some new insights from a small business book by Seth Godin called The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (And When to Stick). Here’s what I learned. More…

Thinking of Our Dads As We Approach Father's Day

Come visit me at my website at www.MenAlive.com As we approach father’s day I recall my own father who died twelve years ago at the age of 90. I also think about my five children and ten grandchildren and my wife, Carlin, with whom I share this life’s journey. I think about all the fathers and children of the world and the joy as well as the pain that is so much a part of life as the planet continues to heating up. When I think of my own father, my feelings are a mixture of pleasure and pain. More…

How the Largest Movement in the World Came into Being: Are You a Member?

Come visit me at www.MenAlive.com and receive a copy of my free e-newsletter on men, relationships, and the future. I just returned from attending one of the most unique gatherings of men and women I have ever experienced. It was put on by BALLE (Business Alliance for Local Living Economies). http://www.livingeconomies.org/ My guess is that you haven’t heard of BALLE. They are part of a movement that Paul Hawken describes in his new Blessed Unrest. The subtitle of the book is How the Largest Movement in the World Came into Being and Why No One Saw It Coming. You might be surprised to learn that you are part of the movement and don’t even know it. More…

Save The Males: Responses From Around the World

Come visit me at www.MenAlive.com or drop me a note to Jed@MenAlive.com Last week I wrote a blog describing our experiences with depression and how symptoms differ for men and women. I told you about the study we are conducting and asked men and women to participate. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Within a few days over 500 men and 250 women filled out the 10 minute questionnaire. We’re hoping to have responses from 1200 men and 600 women by mid-June. You can help by taking the questionnaire yourself and passing on the information to others. Click here. Here’s what we’ve learned so far: More…
