A Web site is aiming to take the guesswork out of eating right. Logic Nutrition offers a new Internet program that combines a commonsense approach to food choices with nutritional science to make it easier for busy people to eat properly. Scott Magers, president of Logic Nutrition, says the "Low Glycemic Index Choice and Nutrition Program" promotes a "logical lifestyle" instead of dietary extremes. The program recommends a ratio of 50 percent carbohydrates, and 25 percent each of proteins and fats.
The carbohydrates are low in blood sugar and provide a steady supply of glucose to the bloodstream to sustain energy and prevent hunger pangs. Logic also recommends eating a small- to moderate-sized meal every three to four hours to maintain energy.
Carbohydrates, Logic says, are not the villains some people believe they are. Only the high-glycemic variety create an abrupt increase in blood sugar that causes insulin production to jump and people to go through cycles of fatigue and hunger.
The Logic Nutrition Program contains a complete listing of both recommended foods and foods to avoid because of their high glycemic index. - - - - -
