Ever wonder just how far the public is out in front of the medical establishment? Consider this latest from the American Heart Association (AHA):
Although "studies have shown that foods rich in antioxidants are associated with a reduced risk of heart disease...that doesn't mean consuming vitamin pills will provide similar benefits -- or is even safe."
Dr. Diane Tribble of the AHA's nutrition committee says the association continues to recommend "people increase their consumption of antioxidant-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits and whole grains.
However, AHA researchers did manage to note in their study in the journal Circulation that lower risks of coronary disease among some 85,000 women was the result of vitamin E consumption -- which can be achieved only "by supplementation."
