Overcoming Obesity
Overcoming Obesity
I've battled with the scale most of my life, and I've yo-yo dieted. Five years ago, I was able to fit into size 10 pants, and I felt good about that. But now my weight has increased by 35 pounds again, and my health is also in jeopardy, because I have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I've gained so much weight that it takes an enormous amount of energy to be able to exercise. I can't afford a trainer. Any advice on what you've done to successfully lose weight? Motivational words would also help at this point?
Overcoming Obesity
The best thing that you can do is to see a nutritionist. They lay it all out for you - what to eat, food combinations and everything else. I lost 13 pounds in 4 weeks and wasn't hungry AT ALL. In fact, it was hard to eat all the food that I was supposed to. You'll be placed on a healthy diet of REAL food. No gimmicks, no memberships, no supplements. Trust me, you'll be glad you did and it'll be the best decision you ever made.

Have any of you tried Herbalife? Its food and has a good reputation to help people lose, gain or maintain their weight, health and fitness. Maybe it would be worth considering rather than trying to find out what works and what doesn't, they have a track record of great solutions. Seek out what is called a Weight Loss Challenge in your area. I'm only trying to help, there are lots of companies out there to compete. Try this one you might like what you lose. I tried Herbalife, I weighed 222 pounds, and lost 37 pounds in three months being on their program was very pleased with the result I got!

I've lost 27 pounds in the last 16 months by using portion control and regular exercise (40-60 minutes, 4 to 5 days per week), with the support of T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). T.O.P.S. is a reasonable support organization with sensible suggestions for weight control. There is no food to purchase, nor prescribed diets and the cost is nominal. You can locate a chapter near you by going to their website at http://www.tops.org/default.aspx
Motivational words for Overcoming Obesigty
I too am in the same boat. I have gained 50 pounds since menopause, lost 20 on Atkins and gained it back. Nothing seems to work - tried Jenny craig, NutriSystem etc. When I look at my odler relatives, I see the genetics.
I walk 45 minutes a day 6 days a week. My doctor describes me as fit although I too am on blood pressure meds. I am okay with the diabetes things, but have been told to watch my sugar.
My motivation to you is this - do what you can every day as far as exercise goes, Try to find a walking buddy- I have and it works. Remember, that when you are exercising, even though the pounds are not dropping, you are becomming more fit on the inside. I know we want the scale to show a loss right now, but I really do feel that in time, it will come. Hang in there. You can do it We started with 25 min walks and are ready to go to 1 hour. It's been 6 months since we started walking.
Take care.
The China Study and Eat to Live
Buy these books on Amazon or at your bookstore. I have gotten off 5 blood pressure pills a day and have regained my health after reading these books and changing my diet. You can do the same! I am so excited about this new information and am just a bit sad that I spent almost 56 years of life eating foods that were not healthy, and I didn't even realize it. Good luck to you.
Keep it simple
Please don't think I know it all, but I've been able to lose a steady pound a week by just reminding myself (and following thru) - do not eat bread, potatoes, bakery and anything with flour in it. There are a few other surprising foods that I did not know about like watermelon (loaded with sugar) but who has the opp to eat watermelon everyday so don't stress over that. I walk everyday and just seek out the simple things to eat. It works!

Overcoming Obesity
When I began preparing for gastric bypass surgery, I found that cutting out all carbohydrates....that is all flour and sugar products.....was the best and easiest way! I only got carbs from fruits and vegetables. I also made sure to get atleast 60 to 100 grams of protein daily. From July '07 to May '08 I lost over 80 lbs!
I can't cut out flour and
I can't cut out flour and sugar products thanks to my doc who put me on diabetes meds. And fruits are way too high in sugar for me.
I'm confused: you can't cut
I'm confused: you can't cut out flour and sugar because your doctor put you on diabetes meds? but fruit is too high in sugar? please explain
I am also overweight but
I am also overweight but know it is from emotional overeating. I know if I want to I can lose the weight. Like the original poster, I have between 35-40 lbs. to lose.
I have joined a great group called AnneCollins.com. The cost is $20 per year and you get all the support you want. That plus once you give in to temptation and eat too much, get right back on your diet; don't wait for a new week, a new month, etc.
Good luck@@@
