Osteoporosis Support
Thanks for starting this
Thanks for starting this discussion, Treysa.
I don't know much about it, either. When we see old men and women appear to 'shrink' and bend over, is that caused by osteoporosis?
Hi, Tresya!
I have a friend who has this but she hasn't talked to me much about it. My gynocologist is doing free tests for it so I will be going later this month to be tested. My mom didn't live past 52 so don't know if she would have had it but I don't think any women in my family have had it.
So, stay tuned as they say....
I hope this forum will prove to be helpful to many who are seeking answers as well as to provide a place where those who have knowledge and/or experience can have the joy of helping others.

Danger of fractures
Tresya..you are a woman of courage. This is quite the challenge. Good luck to you..;~)
This will be a good topic to learn about. Osteoporosis from my understanding, is a condition where the bone marrow becomes more porous, less dense...hence the danger of fractures. The bones become more brittle.
Some of the treatments I hear of are exercise, vitamin D and calcium and hormone replacement therapy. I wonder if anyone knows of any herbs that are helpful?
Not only for women
Hi,
As you may know, menopause is the number one risk factor for osteoporosis. However, in a much less extent, men are also hit by the disease. So I hope this will be a forum not for women exclusively.
Waiting you to share your thoughts,
Tresya
