    The famed actress and two-time Oscar winner has suffered from chronic back pain for many years. She was born with scoliosis, which causes an unnatural curvature of the spine, resulting in prolonged pain and discomfort.

    A former judge on American Idol and singer, Paula Abdul has suffered from severe chronic pain for over two decades. Her condition was caused by a cheerleading injury in high school. It was further aggravated by her involvement in a number of car accidents. Abdul was eventually diagnosed with a condition known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

  • Melanie Griffith The Oscar-nominated actress was involved in a car accident in her 20s, which left her with chronic neck and back pain. The lingering pain caused her to get addicted to pain relief medications, further complicating her situation.

    A renowned football player and a three-time NFL MVP winner, Favre was plagued by chronic pain caused by bone spurs on his ankle. He underwent surgery twice, in addition to other measures, to cope with his condition.

    A comedy legend, Jerry Lewis suffered from chronic back pain for over 30 years. His condition was further complicated when he damaged his spine during a comedy routine in 1965.

  • Anna Nicole Smith The deceased actress and model reportedly suffered from chronic pain for a significant part of her life. In the process of coping with her pain, she became addicted to pain relief medications and other drugs.
  • George Clooney

    Clooney suffered a serious head injury while shooting the movie Syriana in 2005. Following the injury, he suffered severe chronic pain from damage to his spine. The actor eventually had to undergo surgery to repair the damage and reduce the pain.

  • Michael James Hastings

    Michael James Hastings, an actor whose claim to fame is his recurring role as Captain Mike on the hit TV series The West Wing, suffers from fibromyalgia. At the age of 30, Hastings was diagnosed with fibromyalgia which eventually forced him into early retirement. In 2004, Hastings used his status as Captain Mike to bring awareness to the condition by teaming up with a nutritional company called Enzymatic Therapy. Mike promoted their supplements geared toward people suffering from the chronic pain disorder by touring health food stores throughout Los Angeles, and providing customers with information about vitamin supplements used to help reduce symptoms of fibromyalgia.

  • Rosie Hamlin Rosie Hamlin, the lead singer of a popular band in the 60s called Rosie and the Originals, also suffers from fibromyalgia. In 2004, Hamlin appeared on the cover of Fibromyalgia Aware magazine where she discussed her struggle to overcome debilitating pain while touring, as a result of fibromyalgia. Though she loves singing, she knew she could no longer continue to tour, and eventually decided to take on a new career pathpainting! The former singer credits religion, painting, and fibromyalgia conventions for helping her cope with the pain.
  • Frances Winfield Bremer Frances Winfield Bremer, the wife of Ambassador L. Paul Bremer III, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 28 years ago. In 2007, she was declared the official spokesperson for the chronic disorder by the National Fibromyalgia Association. She and her husband hope to bring awareness to the organization on an international level by making joint media appearances, as well as, appearing on the cover of Fibromyalgia Aware magazine to help motivate more people into finding a cure.
