"$#*! My Father Says"

We love William Shatner. You love William Shatner. And the ever-irrepressible Captain Kirk will be starring in the most controversial TV show this fall season. And we bet youre going to watch.

Whats it called? That is kind of a problem because it is based on a pretty salty twitter feed which is called Sh-- My Father Says, Uh-huh. Thats why CBS is calling the show in the TV listings $#*! My Father Says and pronouncing the title as Bleep My Father Says.

Comedy writer Justin Halpern, 29, started the twitter feed as a way to record his 74-year-old fathers quotes on various subjects. Semi-employed, he began compiling his dads opinions after moving back to his parents home in San Diego. Yes, a boomerang kid. The feed now has over a million and a half followers. Halpern and a writing partner also turned dads sayings into a number-one best-seller.

According to Halpern his cantankerous father is like Socrates but angrier and with worse hair. Most of his sayings are expletive-laced--heavily laced. A few that are free of four-letter words include: "Pick your furniture like you pick a wife: It should make you feel comfortable and look nice, but not so nice that if someone walks past it they want to steal it." Or his comment on raising children, A parent's only as good as their dumbest kid. If one wins a Nobel Prize but the other gets robbed by a hooker, you failed

There have already been complaints about the show or, at the very least, its title. The Parents Television Council is asking advertisers to boycott the show unless the name is changed. CBS says nobody else has had a problem, and Shatner wishes they used the real word.

TV critics are speculating it will be one of the hits of the season. As for us, we even laugh at Shatners Priceline commercials. Bleep, yes, well be watching.
