to retire or not to retire...that is the question!
to retire or not to retire...that is the question!
I can relate in some ways. I was married for about 18 years and I am divorced now. I will have to rely on my own retirement and Social Security. That is the main reason I am still working. I am 59. I would have no health insurance if I retired. I am just too young. If I continue to work about seven more years, I will not only get my full retirement...I will be eligible for Medicare. So I must work somewhere to maintain my current standard of living, etc. I work at a school also. I like my job and mainly being with people every single day...students, faculty, etc. That is the main reason I work. It's the people. Without my job at this point in life, I don't know what else I would be doing and what else would give me satisfaction in life? So I continue to work and I will continue as long as I am able.

Hi,
I'm 30 years old. Currently I'm working with a KPO. I just want to know what kind of investments I should do for a secure future. Because my health doesn't allow me to work more than 8hrs in a day. I'm looking for your kind response.

me too!
Hi;
I'm Rita, 61, and I work for the state. I went to a retirement seminar thru work, and decided to keep going until 65, or close to it. I found out that my health insurance would cost me until I'm 65, and then medicare would kick in. I live in a state where the economy is very depressed, and I'm grateful, for my income right now. I will get a pension, but I'm just at 15 years, and each additonal year means a bigger pension, so, I decided to keep working!

retirement and working
I am 84 and worked until Dec. 2007. This year due to the economy I was not called back to work. I'm like Mary, I enjoyed being with people and the perks of lunches, potluck, showers, and other parties. I thought that I would never get tired of working, but since I was not called back to work I have sort of gone down-hill and I no longer desire to work. I have Social Security and retirement benefits, IRA. I am not destitute, but the extra money came in handy and was able to contribute to a Roth IRA for myself, my son and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. I am just going to enjoy myself and will travel more while I am still healthy. Will be going to Cancun in January. Good health and happiness to everyone.
