Go to the Driveway Drive-In

As busy adults, we often make excuses for not doing things we find enjoyable. We say that we have too little time to play, too many bills to pay and not enough energy to do anything. We forget how important it is to make time for the small but necessary things, like each other.

Yet no matter how busy or broke we are, we need to remember to get out of the house every once in a while. And though you may not be able to afford a vacation to an exotic locale, don't forego a mini-vacation altogether. Instead, scale it down a little. The object should simply be to escape your ordinary environment and do something different and special, something that frees you from the normal so you'll feel more comfortable trying other new things.

Here's an idea: Remember the good old days, when you and your partner went to the drive-in theater and ignored the movie? Those days aren't gone! Bring them back to life by converting your own driveway into a drive-in theater.

Make plans to stay home one Friday night. Pop a bag of microwave popcorn, grab a couple of drinks and head out to your car to cozy up under a warm blanket with your partner (and get ready to steam up the windows!). You can listen to a book on tape or, if you're lucky enough to have a TV in your SUV or minivan, you can play a movie. Whichever you decide, make sure to keep your attention on the main attraction -- each another!
