Eggs for Beauty

Looking for a handy beauty aid? Reach inside your refrigerator and haul out an egg or two. London style expert Josephine Fairley says the fruits of the hen are "nature's great beauty boosters" -- but make sure they are organic.

For a moisturizing face treat, mix one beaten egg yolk with a teaspoon of sweet almond oil and coconut milk powder to make a paste -- adding couple of drops of geranium essential oil. Mix and smooth onto your face, leave for 10 minutes, then rinse.

For a "shine and bounce boost" for the hair, Fairley suggests blending two egg yolks with two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, a tablespoon of organic honey and two drops of rosemary essential oil. Massage into the scalp and hair, then wash, wrap in a towel and leave for at least 15 minutes, washing afterwards in lukewarm water and a gentle shampoo.

She says the value of the egg comes in two parts: the white, which is the lightening and toning element, and the yolk, which is rich and moisturizing. But, Fairley emphasizes, "it's most important to use free-range organic eggs because your skin will be only as good as what you put on it."
