Expert Advice: Male Orgasm

By Dr. P. Sándor Gardos

QUESTION: It seems like in films, women can actually feel when their male partner has an orgasm. But I can only tell when my partner ejaculates if I actually see the result! Shouldn't I be able to feel his contractions when he ejaculates?

ANSWER: It's normal not to feel a man's contractions when he has an orgasm or ejaculates. Don't worry -- you are not missing anything special. It's also important to remember that what you see in films (especially adult pornographic films) is not indicative of what actually happens in real life. The men and women are simply acting.

The contractions a man experiences during an orgasm are usually rather subtle on the outside of his penis. In most cases, the nerve-endings in a woman's vagina are just not sensitive enough to pick it up. The ejaculation itself hitting the back wall of the vagina is definitely something you would not be able to feel -- the inner two-thirds of the vagina has very few nerve endings.

If you are not sure when your partner ejaculates or has an orgasm, you might want to encourage him to be a little more vocal during sex. But you are not going to be able to feel it that directly.
