Viagra from Internet Mostly Phony

If your man has ED, warn him away from ordering Viagra

on the Web. He'll most likely be wasting his money on counterfeit products. Pfizer Global Security, the company that manufactures the real little blue pill, monitored top search results and found that not one web site required a prescription or a health screening and 90% offered illegal "generic Viagra."

Not only that but an assessment for chemical composition of the tablets that came in the mail showed that sildenafil citrate, the active pharmaceutical ingredient of Viagra, varied between 30% and 50%. Irwin Goldstein, MD, of San Diego Sexual Medicine in California and colleagues reported on the study during a poster session at the World Meeting on Sexual Medicine. Their conclusion was that "Internet sites claiming to sell authentic Viagra medication shipped counterfeit medication 77% of the time; counterfeits usually came from non-US addresses and had 30% to 50% (averaging 35%) of the labeled API claim."

"Caution is warranted when purchasing Viagra via the Internet," they added.
