The Orgasm Documentary: No, You're Not Weird

If youve ever thought that your orgasms are somehow not good enough, or that every woman but you has shrieking, porn-star climaxes, a newly released movie may make you feel a lot better about yourself.

The serious-yet-humorous documentary Orgasm Inc. explores how so-called female sexual dysfunction came to be seen as an illness that could be solved via a Viagra-like pill (that would net manufacturers millions of dollars) rather than a condition caused by shame and lack of knowledge. That lack often leads to shame and distorted self-image. Not only am I not normal, Im diseased, one woman says in the movie, which is playing across the country beginning just before Valentines Day.

Instead of relying on a drug to achieve orgasm, director Liz Canner and others favor sex toys, like vibrators, to focus on the clitoris, the main area of orgasmic pleasure for women. Said one expert interviewed, A drug is no good unless it comes with a map of the clitoris on the outside of the box.
