Skincare and Anti-Agers

Beauty is only skin deep, so let’s keep that skin looking good.

What are your anti-agers? Want to hear other women’s? Find out right here!

I did a lecture on

I did a lecture on anti-aging facial care recently. Here are some highlights:So, where does your face show age? Most of us experience a drop in our cheeks, as elastin in our faces loses tensile strength, the infamous crow’s feet around the eyes and lips, from years of laughter, kissing and smiling, and liver spots or hyper pigmentation accumulated from a lifetime exposed to the sun. Of course, everything starts with lifestyle, and diet is a huge part of lifestyle. A balanced diet rich in organic vegetables, whole grains, and meats provide you with antioxidants, essential fats, collagen and minerals to retain a lifelong healthy glow. Exercise is also very important, mainly to reduce stress (which will age you an alarming rate in many ways) but when you sweat it moves toxins out of your skin.A proper daily facial care ritual will go a long way: frequent exfoliation, daily cleansing, toning and moisture are the building blocks of aging gracefully. Moisture is critical for skin of any age and lately I’ve come to believe that most of one’s dietary fats should really be applied topically. I’m talking about olive oil, nut oils like almond oil and coconut oil, as rubbing fish oil all over oneself just plain sounds gross. Those oils are also mildly sun protectant, as most have a natural SPF of about 4. Proper Suncare is also a big part of aging gracefully, and through trial and error I have come to the conclusion that sunscreen of any SPF needs to be reapplied every couple of hours (at least) during prime sun exposure. I really like Hara Sport, and Mychelle sunscreens for their sun protection and moisturizing efficiency. Mychelle also came out with an entire Apple Facial Care Line specifically formulated for overexposed skin.

Changing skincare brand

I'm 55, but look much younger. I have been using Estee Lauder for some years, but I want to start using a line of skincare products that doesn't eat away at my budget the way EL does. I have been looking at Avon's Anew line, and I've heard that Ebel, which seems to have an easy-to-follow regime (fewer products that do the job) is also very good. I have a normal-to-oily T-zone, enlarged pores across from cheek to cheek; the only lines showing now are slight crow's feet in the eyes outer corners and under the eyes; skin's beginning to sag on sides. I need some imput from ThirdAgers. Should I stay with EL, or look for a less expensive regime?

changing brands

first off, i m not advertising and i m not selling you anything, your skin isnt the area to skim on, you dont want to resemble cracked mud on a bulldog, some cheaper brands are good as long as they put as much goodies in (look at the ingredients), otherwise, save elsewhere, sacrify that cake with your cup of tea, buy other stuffs when theyre on sale, precison by channel has new products out if your concern is sagging, this new line is proven to effectively reduce wrinkles and sagging by at least 80-90%!! it all comes to how much you love your skin, i m not rich myself, but compromising for my skin? no!

Has anyone else tried the

Has anyone else tried the OLAY Vitamins for your skin and beauty health? I have been most happy with the results to date. My skin feels fresh, tight, smooth and looks great!

OLAY Vitamins

I have been taking the OLAY Vitamins because I like the idea of treating my skin from the inside as well as the outside. I feel there has been a visible benefit for my skin since starting these products. My skin looks and feels younger and it's not as dry and flaky like it was. Have you tried these?

Please consider my concern

Hi all (again).. I know I'm new here and the company who makes the product I'm talking about won't likle me much but I'm on a misson.. to STOP cosmetic B-tox injections to look younger.. yes .. it's nice but people with Muscle Movement disorders and Migraines DEPEND on the medical community to take our needs seriously.. and since the intro of these injections for wrinkles and age lines..Many of. those Docs and nurses do not take our needs seriously!.. We Require these shots to relieve symptoms for a period of time so we can live somewhat pain free... I've had Nurses laugh at me.. docs question me .. re: my need for b-tox.. we were born young to Grow older and along with age comes wrinkles.. thats just how it is. is your vanity more important than someone living pain free?.. Think about it.. PLEASE.

Botox was used for medical

Botox was used for medical use long before the FDA approved it for cosmetic use and I would say you must be going to the wrong Doctor if anyone is laughing at you. Many people use this for migraine help for others it doesn't work at all.

Now with all that said I will stll be going to my Dermatologist and getting my Botox inj. for cosmetic reasons. Trust me there is enough Botox for everyone who needs it for what ever reason. Again I think you need to find another Doctor.

Freckle or Age Spot

I have noticed I have a large brown ugly circle (spot) that has appeared on my cheek? Could this be an age spot? I am in 40s and I hate this..how can I get rid of it? Will lying in the sun make it worst?

Francine

Hi Francine,I read the book also went out and bought the vitamins at gnc and it does work.I'm 63 yrs old and wish that I had know about this when I was much younger. You younger ladies will probably get excellent results. You need to buy the Ester-c lotion by Jason, Alpha Liporic Acid 100mg in the softgel capsules, and DMAE-H3 in liquid form by Twinlab. This is the way you use it every night before bed and you can mix up a weeks worth at a time because it want get rancid.
1-alpha lopoic acid capsule(snip the end off and squeeze the contents out)
2-squirts of the ester-c lotion
1/2 dropper of the dmae-h3 liquid.
just apply to a clean face every night after you have used a toner. It's no miracle cure , but i think it has done wonders for me, just wish i had know this formula just 5 yrs ago. Sure hope this answers your questions. i also take the ester-c vitamins, the alpha lopoic capsules, the dmae-he(in pill form)and vitamine orally.

Dr. Perricone

I have been using two of Dr. Perricone's products for three weeks...the Amine Complex Face Lift and the Concentrated Restorative Cream. They provide good moisture but that's about it.
My advice... save the money you would spend on these products and put it toward a real face lift!

Dr. Perricone

Dear Patty:

I read Dr. Perricone's book and went to his website. I didn't buy anything because it was very expensive. It sure sounded like it might work and I am still tempted to buy some of the things he has. I tried to find all of the vitamins and things he mentioned at Long's Drug or Costco but I couldn't find much of what he recommends taking. I didn't try a health food store which might be a better place to look. Please let me know if you get any replys. It would be nice to know if anyone get results before spending so much money.

Hair Removal``````````````

Hi I was reading about the "hair" removal. My friend used Nads on her daughter as a test & it was awful! If you are speaking of hair on your face. I have gone to electrolysis for years! If I spent the $ on one or two lasers treatments instead it would have been better! Do it for your self, for your self confidence, after all what do most husbands spend their $ on! Themselves if need be! I use to trim the hair close to my face (with sizzors) & then use Sally Hansen Face bleach!
Blonde is better than black (on your face anyway)Now I use (if needed) plain ol' Hydrogen peroxide 3% USP & a cotton ball will lighten any face hair! Cool huh? :) I worked in cosmetics for many years. Try it you'll see-Good luck. Long hair 4 ever :)

Skin problem answers found

I am a walking testimonial of the extraordinary results I have seen by using Sensé cosmeceutical line whose parent company is USANA Health Sciences. Dr. Wentz, the founder of USANA, has utilized his 37 years experience in Immunology and Microbiology to develop this amazing line.
Myself, I have been plagued with Acne for the past 32 years. I've been given Tetracycline, Acutane, not to mention chemical peels by my Dermatologist. Have been recommended to use Clinique amongst other brands, but nothing cured my acne. And
as I grew older, my skin started developing Rosascea, age spots, wrinkles, and psoriasis.
I honestly believe this was the direct result from all the treatments I have had over the years. I started using Sensé last July, and my skin has never been healthier. No more age spots, no more Rosescea, no more psoriasis. And the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles have drastically reduced. Many people who haven't seen me in years have expressed how good I look.

If anyone would like to change the way their skin looks, please send me a note (lfarley@hvc.rr.com) or give me a call (1-877-573-0640). I'll be glad to provide all the details on how great this product works.

Questions on using Nair on face

I have been blessed with very pale facial hair. But unfortunately under my chin there was lots of it. A few years ago, I had electrolysis which worked wonders but still have very fine hairs I want to remove. I have tried Nad's, which didn't do a thing.... Epilstop which also didn't do a thing...and then yesterday I tried my daughter's Nair for Facial Hair lotion. It worked wonders without burning my skin like depilotories used to. My question is, is using something so 'chemical' detrimental to delicate skin over the 'long haul'? I find it hard to believe that it wouldn't be. Any answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Introducing Sense'...Beautiful Science

I've just recently become part of a castalyst team that has launched a new cosmeceutical skin care line.It was introduced by Dr. Wentz,a renowned scientist, and a leader in the science of cellular nutrition. It is nutrition on your skin.A revolutionary approach to skin care. Beauty "inside and out" the way nature intended. The astonding results? In 8 short weeks, independent lab studies, conducted under supervision of leading dermotologists, and opthamologists, prove:
Decreased fine lines 26%
Alleviated Signs of dryness 89%
Increased elasticity 46%
Improved skin texture 57%
Increased moisture levels 51%

I am a living testimony of their products. I had cancer and my skin was really dried out, aged and no color after over two years of treatment of chemotherapy and radiation. I now no longer have to wear blush on, and I glow. Sense women and men glow. It truly is nutrition on the skin working at a cellular level.People now say to me boy do you look healthy!!! Unusual Problem

I'M wondering if anyone out there has my unusual facial problems.I'm over 60 and still have very oily complexion except for very dry skin around the eyes. I still have acne occasionally. How have you treated your situation?

Same problem

It is not an unusual problem for those of us who have adult acne. I see a dermatologist and use renova on my skin to control the acne. Also because the eye area does not have the pores that are present on the rest of the skin, I use an over the counter eye cream. I do not have wrinkles around my eyes or any where on my face. The doctor said that this was the only benifit of acne, but I do have scars and he fills these with collagen. I have in the past had dermabrasions to ease the scars. I am over 45
and female although acne is more frequently a problem men have.

ROCASIA

I have had rocasia for 7 years. When i went to my dermatologists he suggested a product brand called Artistry. I have all my life had very sensitive skin from head to toe. I found a distributor, tried the products, and decided to become 1 myself. It is a great product for my rocasia. I also want to hold on to my beauty as long as possible. I can use the cleanseing, toner (have never been able to use a toner), and moisturizer. Also the alpha hydroxy, that was a big plus. Have used the product for 7 years now. Would love to send you samples. diamond@wwdb.org

"Artistry" Product Line Samples?

I am 44 years old and within
the past two years I have
observed significant
changes in the quality of my
facial skin. These have
included a terrible outbreak
of eczema, lines and some
"hollowing out" in the check
area, and much more
pronounced redness,
blotchiness, and broken
capillaries. I know rosacea
runs in my family, as my
grandfather and father have
both suffered with it. The
eczema has subsided
(thanks to the new med
Protopica!), but I fear the
worst with the rosacea --
nothing seems to help and I
feel like every day I look in
the mirror and my face and
the color and texture of my
skin looks even worse than
the day before. I even spent
BIG $$$ on the wondrous
"La Mer" products, but I
haven't been using them
long enough to see a real
difference in the rosacea
(although it has already
made my skin softer).
In any event, I am looking
for solutions that you have
found to be successful,
both in the area of the
treatment of rosacea as
well as in the area of
make-up/camoflouge of this
disorder. Based on your
message, I went onto the
web to see what info I could
find on Artistry, but I didn't
get too far. Can you tell me
more about this product
brand, your experience in
using Artistry, and how I
might get some samples to
try it out? Thank you so
much!

Fresh Clean Face

The only thing I wanna say about keeping a nice clean, fresh looking face is this: My boyfriend complains all the time about his acne..and he doesn't even have a lot of it. Anyway, take a bowl of really really hot water, grab a towel, put the towel over your head..the back of it, and hold your face parallel to the bowl for about 5 minutes or so, the steam rises, opens up the pores. Once you have done this take an astringent and a cotton pad, and clean your face, you will be amazed at how much dirt was on there! And don't put any kind of facial lotion on your face then..it can help clog up pores...wait a while, then do it!

MICRODERMABRASION

Can someone tell me if they have tried this? Are there bad side effects? Does it really help? Thank you.

MicroDermabrasion

Yes, I've had two microdermabrasions done over the past 3 months. It is a very mild procedure and you will need no "down" or "recovery" time at all. I have very good skin but it is prone to dryness. I found the microdermabrasion to be a great aid in removing the outer layers of dead skin cells leaving my skin soft, dewy and very fresh. I don't think it is a great cure all for fine lines or pigmentation problems since it is such a mild procedure. I liked how my skin looked and felt but the mild dark spots I have on my forehead were not lightened in any way. I would recommend microdermabrasion as a great treat to give you a glowing fresh complexion but don't expect dramatic results for fine lines or any pigmentation irregularities. Hope this helps...
